Founder

John Pan

President and Director, NestPilot Foundation

John Pan founded NestPilot Foundation Inc. after years of watching capable, financially literate Americans — including family and close friends — make irreversible five-figure mistakes on retirement decisions because the math was hidden behind fiduciary-advisor pricing they couldn't justify.

Background

The founder's background spans software engineering, financial-decision modeling, and the architecture of trust-critical systems. Before NestPilot, the founder spent over a decade building enterprise software where the consequences of getting decisions wrong were expensive, irreversible, and visible — the same properties that define retirement decisions.

Why a Foundation, not a startup

Two reasons. First, distribution. Retirees, pre-retirees, and the community organizations that serve them don't trust commercial financial tools, and shouldn't — the unit economics of consumer fintech reward conversion to products, not literacy. A 501(c)(3) is the only structure that can earn durable trust in this space.

Second, evidence. Foundation programs are designed for measurement: pre/post literacy surveys, IRB-compliant data, peer-reviewed publication. The point is not to build the biggest user base; it's to demonstrate that AI-conversational retirement planning measurably improves decisions, then make that evidence available to the field.

Contact and disclosures

John Pan serves as President and Director of NestPilot Foundation Inc. — an unpaid role at the Foundation. He is also the sole Member of NestPilot LLC, a separate Florida limited liability company that develops paid retirement-planning software. The two entities are legally distinct, with separate boards, separate finances, and separate missions. They are governed by a written dual-entity operating-principles document on file with both entities' records, and by a royalty-free IP license under which the LLC licenses planning software to the Foundation for non-commercial educational and research use only.

The Foundation does not promote LLC products, does not receive revenue from the LLC, and does not direct traffic to LLC commercial properties. Conflict-of-interest disclosures for all Foundation directors and officers are filed annually with the Board and will appear on the Board page once the independent Board is fully seated.
